I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 13 years of experience conducting therapy. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Miami and earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. My research and clinical training has focused on personality pathology and interpersonal risk factors for suicide.
My training includes individual and group treatment for high-risk behaviors at forensic state hospitals and an APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship through Brown University. While working at Bradley Hospital and the Young Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program at Lifespan, I specialized in DBT for youth and was a clinical faculty member at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
I am also a certified and practicing Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and gently incorporate zen practices into my sessions.
My background is in third-wave cognitive behavioral treatments, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In plain language, that means I incorporate mindfulness strategies into my practice! My approach emphasizes acceptance and willingness towards emotions so as to build compassion towards self and others. I hope to empower my clients to break free from emotional control. While I have been trained in the comprehensive model of DBT in the past, my current practice is considered DBT informed.
